Privacy Policy

Pub Football Trivia (“we”, “the app”) is a football-trivia game. This policy explains what we store, how we use cookies and advertising, and the choices you have.

What we store

The app is designed to need as little personal data as possible. We store your game settings, streak, and daily-challenge progress on your device (local storage). If you play, we create an anonymous account (no name, email, or password) so your streak can persist and sync — it is not tied to your real identity.

Playing against other people

If you play a duel or send a “beat my score” challenge, we store a record of that game. It holds a display name you choose(the only name we ever ask for — it is shown to the person you play against, so please don’t use your full real name), the setup of the round, the moves and scores of both players, and who played whom.

Because two people share one record, deleting your data cannot simply delete it. If you ask us to erase your data, a game you played alone is deleted outright, and a game you played against someone else is kept but de-identified— your name and account are removed from it and replaced with “Deleted player”, while your opponent’s own record of the game they played survives.

We don’t keep these records indefinitely. A duel nobody joins is removed within a day, an abandoned game within a week, and a challenge link expires after 30 days. Finished games are kept as part of your playing record and removed after 18 months.

Analytics

We collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics to understand which games and settings are popular and to improve the app — for example, the game configurations people choose, whether rounds are completed, and search terms that return no player matches (so we can fill gaps in our data). These events are tied to a random device identifier, not to your name or email, and are processed by us (via Supabase) and PostHog. We do not sell this data.

Cookies & ads

We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we request consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, via a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP).

Purchases

The optional one-off “Ad-Free” purchase is sold through Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment and tax. When you buy, Paddle processes your payment details (we never see or store your card data) and captures your email address as the buyer. We store a record that the purchase was made — linked to your anonymous account, with your purchase email — so we can remove ads for you and let you restore the purchase on another device. You can add your email to your account to protect the purchase; doing so is optional. See Paddle’s privacy policy for how they handle your data.

Your rights

You can clear locally-stored data by clearing your browser storage for this site. Where an anonymous account exists, you can request its deletion — contact us at the address below and we will erase the associated records: your streak, scores, settings, display name, purchases, and games, on the basis described above.

Accounts that never complete a game are removed automatically 30 days after they are created.
