Which one should you start with?
Top 10 is the front door. Everyone understands a ranked list, everyone has an opinion about who’s on it, and wrong guesses cost nothing — so a table can talk its way through a board without anyone feeling examined. Career Path is the one that gets the biggest reaction in a group, because a career unrolling club by club turns into a race between whoever recognises the shape of it first. Name the League is the one to pick if you want the room loud: it’s on a clock, and the last three clubs in any season are agony.
Head to Head and 501 are the two that work best one-on-one — both are built around a back-and-forth rather than a shared board. Stat XI, Starting 11 and Played for All reward the person at the table who reads squad lists for fun. On Target is the oddity: a band to land in rather than a name to get right, so being roughly correct is a skill in itself.
Things that apply to every game
You pick a competition and an era before you start, so a game is only ever as obscure as you asked for. Typing is forgiving — the search box copes with misspellings, common nicknames and the accents no phone keyboard offers. Hints come from a small daily pool, shared across the table in multiplayer, and buy you a clue rather than the answer: you still type the name. Finishing anything counts towards your streak, whatever you scored.
