Career Path

Guess the player from their clubs.

Career Path is a guess-who built from transfer history. A mystery player's career unrolls one club at a time, in order, starting from where they began — and the earlier you name them, the more it's worth. The first club is usually a curveball (a Belgian academy, a loan spell nobody remembers); by club four or five the shape of a career has formed and the answer is on the tip of your tongue.

Every wrong guess uncovers the next club, so guessing is never free time — it spends your score. The tension is exactly that: shout early on a hunch, or wait one more reveal and lose the bragging rights. Clue chips (position for free; nationality and initials for a hint) are there when a career refuses to come into focus.

It plays brilliantly with an audience — one phone, one host reading the clubs out, and a table full of people convinced they had it two clubs ago.

How to play

  1. A mystery player's career is revealed one club at a time.
  2. Guess who it is — each wrong guess uncovers another club.
  3. Name them in as few reveals as you can — fewer clubs shown scores more.
From the coach

Every duff guess uncovers another club, so the longer it takes, the more it costs. Trust the early clubs.
